Lord, I am busy.
\r\nThere are bills to be paid and chores to be done.
\r\nMy work is demanding, and the hours are long.
\r\nI have meetings to attend and deadlines to meet.
\r\nNow is the time, while I am young, to climb up
\r\nthe career ladder and to make my mark.
\r\nI may be single, but I am not always available.
\r\nLord, I am busy, but this I promise \u2013 as soon as
\r\nI \u2018settle\u2019 in my job, I\u2019ll give you my time.
\r\nAnd when I earn that big fat salary,
\r\nI\u2019ll give it all to you and you alone.
\r\nBut for now, give me some space,\u00a0help me to succeed.
\r\nAnd once that is done,\u00a0I\u2019ll give myself to you gladly.
\r\nLord, I am busy.
\r\nMy days are long, and my nights are longer.
\r\nMy sleeps are interrupted and my days chaotic.
\r\nThe dishes are piled high; the laundry never ends.
\r\nMy baby, what a blessing, but oh! I am so worn out.
\r\nI barely have time to brush my teeth or enjoy a cup of tea.
\r\nMy life is so busy, I can hardly stop to breathe.
\r\nAnd did I mention the job that I am working on?
\r\nBabies are expensive, and expenses need to be met.
\r\nIf I don\u2019t work, how will it ever be?
\r\nI promise, Lord, once my child grows up,
\r\nI\u2019ll be there for you \u2013 anything you ask of me, I\u2019ll gladly do.
\r\nBut just not right now \u2018cause you see,\u00a0I am busy.
\r\nOne last request, if you please.
\r\nI am so worn out and have been on my feet all day long.
\r\nI don\u2019t have the energy to read your Word,
\r\nso please, will you just speak to me in my dream?
\r\nLord, I am busy.
\r\nYou see I have finally managed
\r\nto make a name for myself at work.
\r\nI am now finally someone \u2018important\u2019.
\r\nThe career ladder that I told you about,
\r\nthe one I was eager to climb to make a mark?
\r\nWell, I have finally reached the top.
\r\nBut now you see, I have increased responsibilities \u2013
\r\nprojects to oversee, board meetings to preside over
\r\nand targets to meet.
\r\nMy hours are longer, and my weekends are non-existent.
\r\nI am just too busy to do anything else.
\r\nI do have that big fat salary that I so desired.
\r\nEven though I am far too busy to give myself to you,
\r\nI can finally give you my money, no holds barred.
\r\nI know you understand, Lord,\u00a0for you are a God of grace.
\r\nJust a little while longer and then I\u2019ll be free.
\r\nI need to be here, it is what\u2019s expected of me.
\r\nI promise you this \u2013 once I retire, I will be all yours.
\r\nI am far too busy now. You\u2019ll just have to wait.
