\r\nBirds don\u2019t sow or reap like humans.
\r\nThey don\u2019t even store their grains in a barn.
\r\nBut unlike the birds, I sow. I reap.
\r\nI collect a harvest. And I store it in a savings account.
\r\nThen I look at those bank savings and worry.
\r\nI worry that I don\u2019t have enough.
\r\nI worry about paying back loans.
\r\nI look at the numbers in my bank.
\r\nI fail to look to God.
\r\nBirds don\u2019t work in an office.
\r\nOr get a salary. Or have a bank account.
\r\nIt is God who feeds them their daily manna.
\r\nAm I not of much more value than a bird?
\r\nThen why do I grow weary?
\r\nGod, my maker, knows I have need of certain things.
\r\nI just need to trust His Providence.
\r\nConsider the flower.<\/strong>
\r\nFlowers don\u2019t toil or spin.
\r\nThey don\u2019t even clothe themselves in costly array.
\r\nBut unlike the flowers, I labour. I toil. I spin.
\r\nAnd then I fret and I covet.
\r\nI complain that I don\u2019t have the best.
\r\nI complain that my clothes are too old,
\r\nand my nail paint too bold.
\r\nI look into the mirror and feel discontent.
\r\nI fail to look into God\u2019s eyes.
\r\nFlowers don\u2019t complain about their weight or height,
\r\nor their tan or texture.
\r\nIt is God who Himself crafts and styles the flower.
\r\nAm I not of much more value than a flower?
\r\nThen why do I bother with society\u2019s standards?
\r\nGod, my maker, has fearfully and wonderfully styled me.
\r\nI just need to rest in His worth.
\r\nConsider the ant.<\/strong>
\r\nAnts are busy at work and very wise.
\r\nThey don\u2019t need a supervisor.
\r\nBut unlike the ant, I am idle and forgetful.
\r\nI am in need of notes and constant reminders.
\r\nAnts work hard in summer to gather their supply for winter.
\r\nBut I am lazy and foolish.
\r\nI don\u2019t want to sweat when it\u2019s summer.
\r\nSo I just fold my hands
\r\nand end up craving in winter.
\r\nGod, my maker, has created me for good works, \u00a0
\r\nwhich He has prepared beforehand for me to do.
\r\nAm I not created to be much more responsible than the ant?
\r\nThen why do I fail to redeem my time,
\r\nknowing well that the days are evil?
\r\nI need to consider carefully how I walk,
\r\nnot as unwise but as wise.
\r\nAnd work heartily in whatever I do,
\r\nas for God, not for man or myself.
\r\nConsider Jesus.<\/strong>
\r\n\u201cConsider Him who endured\u2026 such hostility against himself,<\/em>
\r\nso that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.\u201d<\/em> \u2013 Heb 12:3
\r\n\u201cWho accomplished the work that He was given to do.\u201d<\/em> \u2013 John 17:4
\r\n\u201cConsider the steadfast love of the Lord.\u201d<\/em> \u2013 Psalm 107:43
\r\n\u201cConsider what great things He has done for you.\u201d<\/em> \u2013 1 Sam 12:24
\r\n\u201cConsider yourselves dead to sin, <\/em>
\r\n(dead to worrying, to fretting,<\/em>
\r\nto complaining, to laziness)<\/em>
\r\nand alive to God in Christ Jesus.\u201d<\/em> \u2013 Rom 6:11
\r\nSo today, may we stop worrying.
\r\nStop fretting.
\r\nStop complaining.
\r\nStop lazing.
\r\n\u201cStop and consider the wondrous works of God.\u201d<\/em> \u2013 Job 37:14
